After 3 years of research, planning and successful fundraising, The Silver Flight Project has found its first host site in Holland, in the city of immense international importance – Den Haag, and thus has celebrated its first production and installment with a sculptural mural “The Flock” at DeltAteliers, the city’s new Contemporary Art Center. Stichting DeltA had agreed to host the mural at their foundation building, which seems appropriate as the image of a courageous free spirit, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, a bird seized by a passion for flight, was my inspiration for the work. While seagulls are a natural part of the seascape, seaport and maritime, they are also a symbol of freedom, cooperation and resilience that reflect the current spirit of the multicultural Den Haag.
